Corrective sharpening that separates focus miss, motion blur and general softness and fixes each one properly, without the halos and crunchy edges conventional sharpening leaves behind.
Ordinary sharpening does one thing: it raises local contrast at edges. That makes an already sharp image look crisper and makes a soft image look like a soft image with white lines drawn around everything. Sharpen AI works differently. It was trained on pairs of blurred and sharp frames, so instead of exaggerating edges it attempts to reconstruct what the detail should have been, which is why the results hold up at full magnification where conventional sharpening falls apart.
There are separate modes because the three common problems need different treatment. Focus correction handles a shot where the plane of focus landed slightly wrong. Motion correction handles subject or camera movement during the exposure, and it can recover a surprising amount from a frame most people would delete. Standard mode handles general softness from a weak lens, diffraction at small apertures or an anti aliasing filter.
Control is more than a single slider. Strength and detail can be set independently, there is a separate control for how much noise the process is allowed to amplify, and comparison views let you see the original and up to four parameter variations at once on the same crop. Masking lets you apply the correction to the subject only and leave a soft background alone, which is usually what you want on a portrait.
It runs standalone on single files or whole folders in batch, and it installs as a plugin for the common editors so it can be called from a layered document and returned as a new layer. Processing is accelerated on the graphics hardware, and output can be written as TIFF, JPEG, PNG or DNG with the original metadata carried through intact.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

The model files are included in the archive. It will still try to check for newer ones on first launch, so block it if you want the install left alone.
Overdriving the strength slider produces a plastic look on skin. Work at a hundred percent magnification and stop earlier than feels right.
