About this release

This is a licensing utility that covers the three things people usually need it for in one window: the operating system, the office suite and the development environment. Rather than carrying three separate tools with three different interfaces, it detects what is installed, reports the current state of each, and offers the methods that apply to that specific combination.

There are several methods included because no single one works everywhere. A local service method suits a machine that stays on one network, a firmware embedded method suits a system where the hardware supports it, and a digital method suits a machine that has been through an eligible upgrade path. The tool reads the environment first and greys out the ones that will not work, which saves the usual cycle of trying each in turn and reading error codes.

The reporting side is what makes it worth using over a script. Before anything is applied you get a readable report of the current edition, the installed product keys, the current state, the remaining period if there is one, and which methods are viable. After it has run, the same report shows exactly what changed. Everything it does is logged to a text file in its own folder so you can see the actual commands rather than guessing.

It also carries the maintenance functions that go alongside. Product key installation and removal, edition conversion between the standard editions, a cleanup that removes traces of previously used tools and their leftover services, a scheduled renewal task for the methods that need one, and a full revert that returns the machine to its unlicensed state cleanly rather than leaving a half configured mess behind.

Installation

Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

1. Extract the archive to a local folder.
2. Turn off real time protection before extracting. Every tool of this kind is flagged by heuristics on sight.
3. Add the folder to your exclusion list so the files are not removed while you work.
4. Run the executable as administrator.
5. Read the state report before choosing anything.
6. Pick the recommended method, let it finish, and reboot before checking the state again.
