About this release

Creo is a parametric mechanical design system, which means the model is a recorded sequence of operations rather than a static shape. Change a dimension near the start of the tree and everything built on top of it rebuilds. That is what makes it usable for real product work, where a part gets revised thirty times before it is made and every revision has to carry through to the assembly and the drawings automatically.

The modelling toolset covers the full range of mechanical work. Solid features with sketched and placed geometry, patterns with relations, family tables for variants, freestyle subdivision surfacing for shapes that are not made of prismatic features, full surface modelling with continuity control for class A work, and a sheet metal environment with proper bend allowances, relief handling and flat pattern output.

Assemblies are the part that separates a mechanical system from a general modelling tool. Components are constrained with real mating conditions rather than dragged into place, mechanism connections let a linkage actually move so you can check travel and clearance, interference detection reports collisions across the whole product, and simplified representations keep a very large assembly openable by loading only what you need to see.

Downstream, the drawing environment produces the documentation that gets a part made. Fully associative views that update when the model does, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing applied to the model itself, bills of material driven from the assembly structure, exploded views and section work. Simulation is built in for structural and thermal studies, and there are dedicated environments for mould design, welding, piping, cabling and additive manufacturing preparation.

What you get

  • History based parametric modelling with a fully editable feature tree
  • Family tables and relations for driving part and assembly variants from one model
  • Freestyle subdivision surfacing alongside precise surface modelling with continuity control
  • Sheet metal environment with bend allowances, relief handling and flat pattern output
  • Large assembly handling with simplified representations and selective loading
  • Mechanism connections for motion, travel checking and interference detection
  • Associative drawings with model based geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Built in structural and thermal simulation with meshing and result plotting
  • Specialist environments for mould design, welding, piping, cabling and additive preparation
  • Complete offline help centre bundled rather than served from the network

Changes in this build

  • Large assembly open and regeneration times improved noticeably
  • Surfacing tools gain better continuity reporting and cleaner boundary blends
  • Simulation meshing more robust on imported geometry with small features
  • Drawing generation faster on sheets with many sections and detail views
  • Help centre reorganised with working search in the offline build

Installation

Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

  1. Extract the archive to a local drive with forty gigabytes free.
  2. Disconnect from the network before you start.
  3. Pause real time protection for the whole install. It is long.
  4. Run the installer as administrator and select the component set you need rather than everything.
  5. Install the help centre from its own installer after the main application finishes.
  6. Run the included licensing helper as administrator, then start Creo from the Start menu.

System requirements

ProcessorIntel or AMD, 64 bit, high clock speed matters more than core count
Memory16 GB minimum, 64 GB for very large assemblies
GraphicsA workstation class adapter with 8 GB VRAM and a certified driver
Storage40 GB during install, fast SSD strongly recommended
Display1920 by 1080 minimum, a second monitor for drawings

Notes from the desk

Use a certified workstation graphics driver. Consumer drivers produce display artefacts in shaded assembly views.

Set your working directory before you open anything. Creo resolves assembly components relative to it and will lose parts otherwise.
