About this release

This is the desktop application rather than the browser tab, and the difference is mostly about how quickly you can get a question in front of it. A global hotkey opens a small floating composer over whatever you are working in, you type, and the answer comes back in the same panel without you leaving the application you were in. Close it with the same key and the window you were using is still exactly where you left it.

The build is labelled Classic because it keeps the older conversation layout, with the sidebar of past threads on the left, the plain message column in the middle, and none of the newer workspace panels that reorganised the interface later. A lot of people prefer working this way, so the layout has been left alone here rather than migrated forward. Threads are stored locally in a folder you can point somewhere else, and they can be exported as plain text or markdown one at a time or in bulk.

Screen and file awareness is the part that makes a desktop build worth installing. You can attach a screenshot on a keystroke, drag documents, spreadsheets, code files, logs and images straight onto the composer, or point it at a folder and ask about what is inside. Long documents are chunked and summarised rather than truncated, and the response cites which part of the file it was reading when it answered.

Everything else you would expect is present. Model selection per conversation, adjustable response length and tone, custom instructions that persist across threads, saved prompt templates, code blocks with syntax highlighting and one click copy, voice input with local transcription, and a history search that actually searches message bodies rather than only titles.

Installation

Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

1. Extract the archive to a local folder.
2. Close any earlier build of the application before you start.
3. Run the installer as administrator and let it finish.
4. Do not launch from the installer's finish button. Close the window first.
5. Copy the contents of the unlock folder into the installation directory, overwriting when asked.
6. Start the application and set your thread storage folder before you begin a conversation.
