About this release

Office C2R Install is a deployment front end rather than an installer in its own right. It writes the configuration file that the Click to Run engine expects, then drives that engine to fetch and install exactly the edition, architecture, channel and language set you asked for, straight from the source servers. What you end up with is a completely standard installation, not a repackaged one, which is why it survives updates that break repacked builds.

The version coverage is the reason people keep it around. Everything from the 2013 line through 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2024 is selectable, in every edition the channel exposes, in both architectures, with any combination of proofing and display languages. You can also install individual applications rather than a whole suite, which is how you end up with a machine that has Word and Excel and nothing else on it.

The tool ships in two forms in this archive. The full build has the complete matrix of editions, channels, update branches and language options laid out across tabs, plus an offline mode that downloads the whole package to a folder first so you can deploy it repeatedly without touching the network again. The Lite build strips that down to a short list of the common editions with one button under each, for when you just want Office on a machine and do not care about the details.

The licensing step is built into the same window. Once the install finishes you pick the path you want from the utilities tab and it runs against the installation that was just created, with the whole command log visible underneath.

Installation

Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

1. Add a folder exclusion in your security software before extracting.
2. Extract the archive into that excluded folder.
3. Remove any existing Office installation using the removal tab first.
4. Run the executable as administrator.
5. Pick your edition, architecture, channel and languages, then start the install and leave it to run.
6. When it finishes, switch to the utilities tab and complete the licensing step from the same window.
