Adobe Photoshop 2026
The full desktop build of Photoshop with the generative model stack left switched on, including Flux Kontext Pro and Gemini Nano Banana routing.
Eight photo editing plugins covering film emulation, black and white conversion, selective adjustment, sharpening, noise and perspective correction.
The Nik Collection is eight separate plugins that install together and register into Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, Affinity Photo and the DxO applications. They have been passed between owners over the years and are still here because the underlying technology, particularly the control point system, does something no slider stack does as quickly.
Control points are the reason people keep the collection. You place a point on the image, set its radius, and the adjustment applies to the region that matches the tone and colour under the point rather than to a circle. Brightening a sky, darkening one building, warming skin in a group shot: all of it happens without drawing a mask, and the selection follows the content rather than the geometry. Every plugin in the collection that makes local adjustments uses the same system.
The individual plugins cover distinct jobs. Color Efex has a large stack of stylistic and corrective filters that combine into recipes. Silver Efex is the black and white converter, with film grain structures and tonal control good enough that it is the standard answer for monochrome conversion. Analog Efex reproduces the flaws of old cameras and processes. Viveza does selective tonal and colour adjustment with nothing else in the way. HDR Efex merges brackets. Sharpener Pro handles capture and output sharpening separately. Dfine handles noise. Perspective Efex corrects converging lines, volume distortion and lens geometry.
Everything runs as a plugin from a host application and returns the result as a layer, so the workflow stays non destructive if you set it up that way. Presets are extensive across all eight, custom recipes save whole filter stacks, and the last used settings can be applied to the next image directly, which makes working through a set of similar frames fast.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, quad core recommended |
|---|---|
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended |
| Graphics | GPU with 2 GB VRAM and current drivers |
| Storage | 6 GB free |
| Host application | Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, Affinity Photo or a DxO application |
Run the plugins on a smart object in Photoshop. The round trip becomes re editable instead of baked in.
Control points work on tone and colour similarity, so a point placed on an edge behaves unpredictably. Place them in the middle of the region you want.
