Autodesk AutoCAD 2027
The drafting application everything else is measured against, with the full 2D documentation toolset, 3D modelling, and the specialised industry toolsets included.
Technical illustration, drafting and documentation in one package, reading CAD geometry directly and turning it into precise, dimensioned, publishable artwork.
CorelDRAW Technical Suite is aimed at the work that sits between engineering and publishing. Assembly instructions, exploded parts diagrams, service manuals, wiring schematics, safety sheets and spare part catalogues all need drawings that are geometrically correct and also readable as printed artwork, and this package is built to produce both from the same source rather than redrawing everything by hand.
The centre of it is XVL Studio Corel Edition, which opens 3D assembly data and lets you pose it, explode it, hide and isolate parts, section it and then push a chosen view straight into the illustration as vector line art with the part structure preserved. Change the model, refresh the view, and the illustration updates instead of being rebuilt. For any product with more than a handful of parts this is the difference between a week of work and an afternoon.
Corel DESIGNER is the drafting and illustration application itself. It carries precision drawing tools, dimension lines that stay attached to the geometry they measure, callouts that renumber automatically against a parts list, projected drawing modes for isometric and orthographic work, and a symbol library system for the standard shapes that repeat across every drawing in a set. Object styles and style sets keep line weights consistent across a two hundred page manual.
Around those two sit the rest of the package. CorelDRAW itself for general layout and page work, Corel PHOTO-PAINT for the raster passes, CAPTURE for screen grabs used in software documentation, AfterShot for photographic source material, and a very large font and clipart collection. Import and export cover DWG, DXF, DGN, STEP, IGES, JT, 3D PDF, SVG, EPS and the standards based technical publishing formats.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 or better, 64 bit |
|---|---|
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB for large assemblies |
| Graphics | OpenGL 3.3 capable with 2 GB VRAM, 4 GB for 3D view generation |
| Storage | 20 GB free during install, 12 GB after |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 at 100 percent scaling |
Install the font and clipart content last. Putting it in first slows the main install considerably and occasionally stalls it.
Keep the automatic updater disabled. An in place update replaces the licensing components.
