Adobe Photoshop 2026
The full desktop build of Photoshop with the generative model stack left switched on, including Flux Kontext Pro and Gemini Nano Banana routing.
The drawing and comics application with the highest tier unlocked, covering multi page projects, page management, animation and the full brush engine.
Clip Studio Paint is the application most comics, manga and illustration work is drawn in, and EX is the tier with everything switched on. The difference between EX and the lower tier is not brushes, it is production: multi page projects, page management, story files, batch export of a whole book, and the animation timeline without a frame limit.
The drawing engine is the reason artists stay. Brush behaviour is genuinely good, with pressure, tilt and velocity mapped across size, opacity, density and texture, and a stabiliser that smooths a stroke without making it feel disconnected from the hand. Vector layers let a drawn line be re shaped, re weighted or trimmed to the nearest intersection after the fact, which is the single most useful thing in the application for inking. Raster and vector layers coexist in one document.
Comics specific tooling is deep and unmatched elsewhere. Panel layout tools that cut a page into panels with consistent gutters, speech balloons with tails that stay attached, text with vertical writing and ruby annotation, tone layers with real halftone screens at proper line counts rather than a filter, perspective and symmetry rulers that constrain the brush directly, and 3D reference models that pose and drop into the canvas as a drawing guide.
Animation runs on a timeline in the same document, with onion skinning, cel management, light tables and export to video or image sequence. Output covers layered files for a publisher, flattened images at any resolution and colour mode, print ready CMYK, and full book export with page numbering and bleed. Brush and material libraries import from the community formats, and everything is organised in a material palette rather than scattered across folders.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, quad core recommended |
|---|---|
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB for large multi page projects |
| Graphics | GPU with current drivers, 2 GB VRAM recommended |
| Storage | 5 GB free plus space for materials and projects |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 or higher, a pen display or tablet is assumed |
Set the tablet driver mode in preferences to match your hardware. The wrong mode is behind almost every complaint about pressure feeling wrong.
Materials live in a separate library folder. Back it up alongside your projects or a reinstall loses every brush you collected.
