Adobe Photoshop 2026
The full desktop build of Photoshop with the generative model stack left switched on, including Flux Kontext Pro and Gemini Nano Banana routing.
Professional raw processing and tethered capture with the colour engine that most studio and commercial photographers prefer over the alternatives.
Capture One is a raw processor and a cataloguing application, and it competes almost entirely on two things: the quality of its colour rendering and the reliability of its tethered capture. Studio and commercial photographers who shoot into a laptop on set overwhelmingly use this, because the connection holds, the images land instantly, and the colour that comes out of the raw file needs less work to get where it should be.
The colour engine is built on per camera profiles that are made individually rather than generated from a generic model, which is why files from different bodies land in a consistent place. On top of that sits the Color Editor with basic, advanced and skin tone tabs, letting you isolate a narrow hue range and move it without touching anything else. The skin tone tab in particular does uniformity work that is difficult to reproduce elsewhere without a lot of masking.
Local adjustments are layer based, up to sixteen layers per image, each with its own mask and the full set of tools rather than a reduced subset. Masks can be drawn, gradient, radial, luminosity based or generated from a colour range, and they can be refined with feathering and edge detection. Every adjustment is non destructive and stored as instructions, and adjustments copy between images as a whole or selectively.
Tethering supports the major camera systems with live view, remote control of exposure settings, capture pilot for client review on a tablet, overlays for composition against a layout, and automatic naming and folder routing on capture. Cataloguing handles sessions for job based work and catalogues for library work, with keywords, ratings, colour tags, smart albums and full search. Output covers process recipes that render several variants at once with different sizes, formats, profiles and sharpening.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, 4 cores minimum, 8 or more recommended |
|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB minimum, 32 GB for large catalogues and high resolution files |
| Graphics | GPU with 4 GB VRAM and OpenCL support for accelerated processing |
| Storage | 10 GB free plus fast storage for catalogues and previews |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 minimum, a calibrated wide gamut panel for colour critical work |
Use sessions for shoots and catalogues for archives. Mixing the two models is the most common source of confusion for new users.
Preview size affects both catalogue size and browsing speed. Setting it far above your display resolution wastes a lot of disk for nothing.
