AutoCAD LT is the drafting application with the three dimensional modelling and the customisation programming interfaces removed. For anyone whose work is producing two dimensional drawings, which is a very large share of everyone who touches CAD, that removal costs nothing and the application behaves identically to the full one. Files are the same format in both directions, so a drawing produced here opens anywhere and a drawing from anywhere opens here.
The drawing toolset is complete. Lines, polylines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines, hatches and regions, with the full object snap system, polar and object tracking, dynamic input, and the constraint system for geometric and dimensional relationships that hold as the drawing changes. Blocks with attributes, dynamic blocks with parameters and actions, external references to other drawings and images, and layer states that let a single drawing present several configurations without duplicating geometry.
Annotation is where a drafting application earns its keep and this one is thorough. Annotative scaling means text, dimensions and hatches size themselves correctly in every viewport regardless of scale. Multileaders, tables that link to external spreadsheet data, fields that pull values from drawing properties, and dimension styles that enforce a standard across a whole project. The layout and viewport system handles sheet composition, with page setups saved and applied across a sheet set so a hundred drawings plot identically.
Collaboration and output are covered without add ons. Drawing comparison highlights every difference between two revisions in colour. Markup import brings comments back in from reviewed sheets. Sheet sets organise a project's drawings with automatic numbering and title block population. Plotting goes to physical devices, to the exchange formats, and to layered PDF with searchable text and preserved line weights, which is what most consultants actually want to receive.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

This edition has no three dimensional modelling and no programming interfaces. If a colleague sends a routine to run, it will not load here.
Set your template and unit configuration first. Fixing units on a drawing that is already half finished is far more work than starting again.
