About this release

AIDA64 tells you exactly what is inside a machine. Not the summary the system information panel gives you, but the actual part numbers: the memory module manufacturer and its timings per slot, the graphics card board revision and its memory vendor, the drive model with its firmware and health attributes, the board chipset and its firmware date, the processor stepping, and every device on every bus with its identifiers. On a machine you did not build, that information is the difference between guessing and knowing.

The monitoring side reads every sensor the hardware exposes: temperatures across the processor package and per core, the graphics card, the drives and the board, plus fan speeds, voltages, power draw and clock frequencies as they actually run rather than as they are specified. Readings can go to a logged file, to a panel on the desktop, to an external display attached to the machine, or out over the network for a second screen.

The stability testing suite loads the components individually or together, which is the only way to identify what is actually failing. Processor, floating point unit, cache, memory, drive and graphics tests run separately or in any combination, with the sensor readings displayed alongside so you can see the thermal behaviour under load rather than at idle. The benchmark set covers memory bandwidth and latency, processor throughput across several workloads, and drive read and write patterns.

The business and audit editions add the network side: scanning a network, collecting a full hardware and software inventory from every reachable machine, tracking changes between audits, reporting installed licences and versions, and exporting the whole set to a structured file or a database. There is also remote monitoring and remote control of the reporting agents for anyone maintaining more than a handful of machines.

Installation

Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

1. Extract the archive to a local folder.
2. Pick the edition you want from the editions folder before installing. They install over each other otherwise.
3. Run the installer as administrator, or use the portable build in the same archive if you prefer.
4. Close the installer rather than launching from it.
5. Copy the contents of the licensing folder into the installation directory, overwriting when asked.
6. Start the application and let it complete its first hardware enumeration before running any test.
