Windows 10 Professional
Pre activated multilingual x64 image of the final Windows 10 Professional branch, offered as a direct link and a torrent magnet.
A stripped desktop image with the optional components and telemetry stack removed, aimed at old laptops and workshop machines that need to boot fast and stay out of the way.
This is a reduced Windows 7 Professional image with service pack one already integrated and the optional feature set cut back hard. The target is hardware that has run out of road: single core netbooks, workshop machines driving one piece of measurement equipment, kiosk boxes, and old laptops with two gigabytes of memory that will never see a modern desktop again. On that class of machine a full install spends most of its life servicing components nobody uses, and removing them is the difference between usable and unusable.
What comes out is everything that is optional rather than structural. Media Center, the sample media libraries, the tablet and handwriting components, the games, the built in wallpapers and themes beyond one, the diagnostic and telemetry services, and the search indexer are all gone. What stays is the shell, networking, the driver store, printing, audio, the servicing stack and the update client, so the machine still behaves like Windows rather than like a rescue environment.
Boot time on spinning disk hardware is the headline. A base install idles at well under half a gigabyte of memory with the desktop loaded and no background scan waking the drive every few minutes. Installed size sits around six gigabytes, which matters on the small solid state drives that shipped in netbooks. The image includes both the thirty two bit and sixty four bit editions so you can point it at whatever the machine can actually address.
Driver coverage is the usual caveat with anything from this era. The image carries the stock driver store plus a set of storage controller drivers added so the installer can see modern SATA and NVMe devices, but graphics and chipset drivers for anything recent will not be present and are not expected to be. This is an image for old hardware, and on old hardware the stock store generally has what it needs.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | 1 GHz or faster, single core acceptable |
|---|---|
| Memory | 1 GB for the thirty two bit build, 2 GB for sixty four bit |
| Storage | 10 GB free, 16 GB recommended for headroom |
| Graphics | Any DirectX 9 capable adapter |
| Media | USB stick of 4 GB or larger, or a writable disc |
Some removed components cannot be added back afterwards. If you need Media Center or the tablet stack, use a full image instead of this one.
This build targets older hardware. On a modern machine there is nothing to gain from it and driver support will be a fight.
