Windows 11 Professional on the 25H2 branch is the current desktop line. The visual language is calmer than 10, the window management is genuinely better with snap layouts and grouped restore, and the underlying scheduler handles hybrid processors with performance and efficiency cores properly, which matters on any recent laptop.
The Professional edition carries the features that separate a work machine from a home one. BitLocker, Remote Desktop hosting, domain join, Group Policy, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox, Windows Subsystem for Linux with graphical application support, and update deferral controls that actually defer.
The main practical obstacle to installing Windows 11 has always been the hardware gate. The stock installer refuses to proceed without a trusted platform module and a processor from the approved list, which rules out a large number of perfectly capable machines. This image has those checks lifted, so it installs on older hardware without the registry editing dance during setup.
It is multilingual, so the language is picked at setup rather than fixed in the file, and it comes up already licensed with no post install step. Cumulative updates apply normally afterwards.
