Adobe Premiere Pro 2026
The timeline that most of the industry cuts on, with the text based editing pass, native multiformat handling and the whole audio workflow intact.
The full professional edition of the digital audio workstation, with unlimited tracks, the complete instrument and effect set and the scoring editor left in.
Cubase is one of the oldest continuously developed audio workstations still in professional use, and the Pro edition is the version with nothing held back. Unlimited audio, MIDI and instrument tracks, the full mixer with per channel inserts and sends, VCA faders, the complete plugin set, the score editor, surround handling and the video track for scoring to picture. The two lower editions exist mainly by removing things from this one.
The recording and editing side is built around a project window that has not fundamentally changed in decades because it works. Lanes and comping with cycle recording, sample accurate editing, AudioWarp for stretching material without changing pitch, VariAudio for pitch correction that stays musical rather than robotic, and a set of hitpoint tools for slicing drums and rebuilding grooves. Direct Offline Processing lets you commit destructive work non destructively and change your mind later.
MIDI is where Cubase has always been ahead. The Key, Drum, List and Logical editors cover every way you might want to look at a note. Expression Maps translate articulation switching for orchestral libraries so a violin line reads as legato, spiccato or pizzicato without a separate track per articulation. Chord Track and Chord Pads do real harmonic work rather than presenting a toy. The included instruments cover a lot of ground: HALion Sonic, Groove Agent, Padshop, Retrologue and a large factory content library.
Mixing is handled in MixConsole with channel strip modules on every channel, full delay compensation, and the mastering chain including the frequency spectrum tools and the loudness metering you need to hit a delivery target. The included effect set is deep enough that a whole record can be finished without a third party plugin, and the VST3 host is stable with everything else you would add.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, 4 cores minimum, 8 or more recommended |
|---|---|
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB or more for orchestral template work |
| Graphics | Any GPU with current drivers, no dedicated card required |
| Storage | 70 GB free for the application and factory content, SSD recommended |
| Audio | An ASIO capable interface for low latency recording |
The factory content can live on a separate drive. Point the content installer at it during setup rather than moving folders afterwards.
Keep the plugin scan on manual after the first run. A full rescan on every launch is slow once you have a large VST folder.
