Adobe Premiere Pro 2026
The timeline that most of the industry cuts on, with the text based editing pass, native multiformat handling and the whole audio workflow intact.
A fast, direct video editor with auto captions, background removal and a large template and effects library, unlocked to the full feature set.
CapCut is a video editor built for people who want a finished clip out the other end quickly. The timeline is a single track stack with drag and drop everything, the effects are one click, and the export presets are set up for the aspect ratios people actually publish in. It is genuinely capable, but the design goal is speed rather than depth.
Auto captions are the standout. Point it at a clip, it transcribes the speech, and you get styled, timed captions on the timeline that you can restyle globally or edit word by word. The accuracy is good across a wide range of accents and the styling presets are the ones people recognise. For anyone producing talking head content this removes the single most tedious step in the process.
Background removal works without a green screen. It cuts the subject out on the fly and lets you drop anything behind them, with an edge feather control for the inevitable hair problem. There is also an auto reframe that tracks the subject when converting a wide clip to vertical, which saves a lot of manual keyframing.
The library side is large. Transitions, effects, filters, text animations, stickers, sound effects and a music bed collection, plus full template projects where you drop your own clips into a pre built edit. This build has the whole library unlocked rather than the free tier subset, and exports come out without a watermark at up to 4K.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, quad core recommended |

| Graphics | 2 GB VRAM, more for smooth 4K preview |
| Storage | 5 GB free plus room for cache and exports |

Auto captions need the language pack for your language, which downloads on first use. Allow it through once, then block the application again.
Keep the cache folder on a fast drive or preview scrubbing gets choppy.
