PDF creation, editing, conversion and signing in an Office style ribbon, with batch processing and deployment controls aimed at rolling it across a whole office at once.
Nitro was built to be the PDF application an office could roll out without training anybody, and the ribbon is the visible result of that decision. Every tab, group and icon follows the Office arrangement, so someone who can use Word can create, edit, combine and sign a PDF within a few minutes of first opening it. Underneath, it is a complete editor rather than a viewer with a few tools attached.
Creation is handled from every direction. A virtual printer captures output from anything that can print. Direct add ins in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook produce a tagged PDF with bookmarks generated from headings and hyperlinks preserved. Drag any set of files onto the window and they combine into one document in the order you arrange them, with a bookmark per source file. Scanner input runs through OCR and comes out searchable.
Editing covers text with paragraph reflow, images with the usual crop and replace operations, page level work from a thumbnail panel, and a full annotation set that round trips as standard markup. Conversion out to Word, Excel and PowerPoint preserves layout, tables and styles rather than dumping a text block. Forms can be detected, built, filled, validated and collected, and there is a signing workflow with certificate based signatures and a verification pass on received documents.
The Enterprise designation is about deployment rather than extra features in the window. There is a configuration tool for producing a preconfigured installer, group policy templates for locking settings across a set of machines, silent installation switches, and a batch processor that will run conversion, OCR, watermarking, security or optimisation across a folder unattended. Optimisation in particular is the underrated one, taking a scanned document from two hundred megabytes to under ten without visibly changing it.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

The Office add ins install alongside. If you use another PDF tool's add ins as well, disable one set or they will both add tabs to the same ribbon.
Turn off automatic updating. An update replaces the licensing component.
