A combined installer covering both the 2021 and 2024 perpetual channels, so you pick the version at install time from one image.
This is a combined image rather than a single release. It carries the deployment payload for both the 2021 and the 2024 perpetual channels, and the configuration tool lets you choose which one to install, along with the architecture, the languages and the application selection. For anyone maintaining a mixed set of machines, one image covering both channels saves a lot of storage and a lot of confusion.
The 2024 channel is the current perpetual release and it is the one to choose unless you have a specific reason not to. Excel adds regular expression functions, improved arrays, dynamic charting and the newer data types. Word adds the reworked focus and immersive modes and better linked note handling. PowerPoint gains the newer camera and recording tools alongside cameo. Outlook carries the updated search and calendar behaviour. The whole suite moves to the current visual language with rounded controls and proper dark mode across every document surface.
The 2021 channel is here for compatibility. Some line of business add ins and macro heavy workbooks are validated against a specific version and moving them is not worth the risk. Having both in one image means you can install the right one per machine without hunting for the right download.
Both channels arrive activated. The configuration tool handles it during install and the state survives cumulative updates.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.

You can install one channel or the other, not both at the same time on one machine.
If you are moving from 2021 to 2024, remove the old installation first rather than upgrading in place.
