Office 2021 Professional Plus is the perpetual release that sits between 2019 and the current subscription builds. It keeps the buy once model while bringing across most of the features that appeared in the subscription channel over the preceding years, and it is the version most people land on when they want something newer than 2019 without a monthly commitment.
Excel is where the difference is most obvious. Dynamic arrays are properly here, which means FILTER, SORT, SORTBY, UNIQUE, SEQUENCE, RANDARRAY and XLOOKUP all work as first class functions. XLOOKUP alone replaces most of the VLOOKUP and INDEX MATCH gymnastics people have been writing for twenty years. LET makes long formulas readable. The performance work on large sheets is noticeable once you get past a few hundred thousand rows.
Word, PowerPoint and Outlook gained the darker interface, better co authoring behaviour, improved ink and drawing tools, and a much larger built in stock content set. Access and Publisher are included in Professional Plus as they always have been, and OneNote is bundled rather than being a separate download.
The image contains both architectures and a configuration tool for choosing the build, the languages and the application selection before installation begins. It arrives activated and stays that way.
