Acrobat Pro is the application that treats a PDF as an editable document rather than a printout you happen to have on screen. Text reflows when you edit a paragraph. Images can be replaced, cropped and moved. Pages can be inserted, extracted, rotated, split and renumbered. Everything a reader can only look at, Pro can change.
Conversion is the feature most people install it for. PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint with the layout, tables and styles preserved rather than dumped as one text block. Scanned paper goes through OCR in over twenty languages and comes out searchable, with the recognised text sitting invisibly behind the original scan so nothing looks different but everything is selectable.
Forms are handled end to end. Point it at an existing document and it detects the fields automatically, then you correct and name them, add calculations, set validation, and distribute. Responses come back into a collection you can export to a spreadsheet. Digital signatures, certificate based signing and signature field placement are all included.
The parts that matter for anything sensitive are here too. Redaction that genuinely removes the underlying content rather than drawing a black box over it, metadata and hidden information stripping, password and certificate security with granular permissions, and a document comparison tool that shows exactly what moved between two revisions.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
