Movavi Screen Recorder does one job and keeps the interface small while it does it. You draw a region on the screen or pick a window, choose which audio sources to capture, and press record. The panel collapses to a thin strip at the edge of the capture area so it stays out of the frame, and a hotkey stops the recording without you having to find the window again.
Audio is handled as separate tracks rather than a single mix, which is the detail that makes recordings salvageable later. System audio and microphone are captured independently, so if the application you are recording gets loud over your narration you can rebalance afterwards instead of re-recording. Input levels are metered live in the panel, and there is a noise reduction pass that can be applied at capture or afterwards.
The extras cover the things people actually need in a tutorial capture. Webcam overlay with a resizable and repositionable frame, cursor highlighting with a configurable colour and size, click effects with an optional sound, and keystroke display that draws pressed keys on screen so viewers can follow shortcuts. Drawing on the frame while recording is available with a small pen and highlighter set, and the annotations can be set to fade after a few seconds instead of persisting.
After the capture stops the file opens in a light editing view rather than being dumped in a folder. You can trim the head and tail, cut segments out of the middle, split, adjust the audio track levels, and export to MP4, MKV, MOV, AVI or GIF with presets for common resolutions and frame rates. Scheduled recording lets you set a start time and duration, which is the way most people capture something that runs while they are away from the desk.

Record to a different physical drive than the one the captured application is reading from. Sharing a drive is the usual cause of dropped frames.
The capture driver installs at the system level. If capture produces a black frame on a laptop, force the recorded application onto the same GPU the recorder is using.
