Adobe Premiere Pro 2026
The timeline that most of the industry cuts on, with the text based editing pass, native multiformat handling and the whole audio workflow intact.
A broadcast oriented non linear editor built for real time mixed format timelines, with fast turnaround news and event workflows as the design target.
EDIUS was built for the rooms where the edit has to be finished before the broadcast, and every design decision follows from that. Mixed formats, mixed frame rates and mixed resolutions sit on one timeline and play in real time without conversion or a background render pass. You can drop standard definition archive footage, a phone clip, a broadcast camera file and a graphics render onto adjacent tracks and scrub through the lot immediately.
The editing model is a conventional track based one done quickly. Three point editing, ripple and roll, slip and slide, four point with fit to fill, and a keyboard layout designed around never touching the mouse during an assembly. Trimming happens in a dedicated mode with all four trim types available on the same handle depending on which modifier is held. Nested sequences, unlimited tracks, and a proxy mode that can be flipped on and off mid project without relinking anything by hand.
Format coverage is the practical strength. Native handling of the broadcast acquisition formats alongside the consumer ones, with variable frame rate material from phones conformed on import rather than left to drift. Timecode is treated as first class throughout, including discontinuous timecode on tape captured material. Output goes to broadcast servers, file based delivery, disc authoring, and back out to tape for archives that still require it.
Colour and audio are covered without leaving the application. Primary and secondary correction with vectorscope and waveform monitoring, a three way colour balance, curves, and support for lookup tables including the log to display conversions the common cameras need. The audio mixer handles as many channels as the timeline carries, with per track effects, normalisation across a selection, and loudness metering against broadcast targets so a delivery does not come back rejected.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, quad core 3 GHz or faster, more cores for 4K timelines |
|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB minimum, 32 GB for 4K and heavy mixed format work |
| Graphics | 4 GB VRAM, DirectX 11 capable |
| Storage | 12 GB for the install plus a fast drive for media and render files |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 or higher, a calibrated panel for grading |
Set the project preset to match your delivery, not your source. The real time engine handles conforming sources, so there is nothing to gain from matching the camera.
Keep render and cache files off the media drive. On file based workflows that single change removes most playback stutter.
