Adobe Premiere Pro 2026
The timeline that most of the industry cuts on, with the text based editing pass, native multiformat handling and the whole audio workflow intact.
The glow plugin most motion designers reach for first, with physically weighted falloff, colour compensation and full sixteen and thirty two bit float support.
Deep Glow exists because the glow effects built into After Effects have never looked right. The stock glow clamps, banding shows up in the falloff, colour shifts toward white in the core, and hitting anything close to a physically plausible bloom means stacking three or four instances and pretending. Deep Glow replaces all of that with one effect that produces a wide, smooth, correctly weighted falloff on the first try.
The falloff model is the point of the plugin. Real bloom is not a single blur radius, it is energy spreading across many scales at once, brighter near the source and trailing far wider than people expect. Deep Glow composites multiple weighted passes to reproduce that, which is why a title with the default settings already looks like it belongs in the shot rather than like a filter was applied to it. The result holds up on bright small sources, large soft sources and everything between.
Practical controls are kept short on purpose. Radius, exposure and threshold do most of the work. Beyond those there is colour compensation to control how far the core drifts toward white, a chromatic aberration pass for the fringing you get from real glass, a stretch parameter for anamorphic style horizontal spread, and a full set of blend modes so the glow can sit over the layer, replace it, or be output alone for compositing further down the stack.
It runs in eight, sixteen and thirty two bit float projects and behaves correctly in a linear working space, which matters if you are grading afterwards. GPU acceleration is used where available and the effect falls back to CPU cleanly. It is a single effect file plus presets, it installs into the standard plugin folder, and it appears in the effects list on the next After Effects launch.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Any 64 bit Intel or AMD processor supported by After Effects |
|---|---|
| Memory | 16 GB recommended for comfortable comp work |
| Graphics | Any GPU with current drivers, 4 GB VRAM for acceleration at large radius |
| Storage | 200 MB free |
| Host application | After Effects, recent year build, 64 bit |
If the effect does not appear, the plug-ins folder was the wrong one. There is a second plug-ins path under the common files directory and it is the one people usually pick by mistake.
Very large radius values on a 4K comp are heavy. Pre compose and render the glow pass if the timeline stops scrubbing.
