Adobe Premiere Pro 2026
The timeline that most of the industry cuts on, with the text based editing pass, native multiformat handling and the whole audio workflow intact.
A full audio workstation for recording, repair, mixing and sound design, with the spectral display and the restoration modules that made it the default for cleaning up dialogue.
Audition is two applications sharing one window. The waveform editor is a destructive single file editor with a spectral display, and it is where damaged audio gets repaired. The multitrack editor is a non destructive session with as many tracks as you need, busses, sends and automation, and it is where a finished mix gets built. Most people use both in the same afternoon and never think about the boundary.
The spectral frequency display is the feature that sold the application and still does. You see the audio as frequency against time rather than as a waveform, which means a cough, a chair scrape, a phone buzz, a lav rustle or a single click stops being an invisible problem and becomes a bright shape you can lasso and delete. The healing brush works on it exactly the way the equivalent tool works on an image, sampling the surrounding material and filling the hole with something that belongs there.
The restoration modules cover the rest. DeNoise and DeReverb run in real time with a single strength control and a preview you can toggle against the original. The noise reduction module learns a print from a quiet section and subtracts it across the whole file. There is dedicated handling for clicks, crackle, hum at either mains frequency and its harmonics, and clipping that reconstructs the flattened peaks rather than just attenuating them.
For mixing there is a full effects rack per track and per bus, with dynamics, equalisation, reverb, delay, modulation, stereo imaging and a mastering chain, plus VST3 support so third party plugins register normally. Sessions round trip with Premiere so a sequence comes across with its tracks intact, gets treated properly, and goes back as a finished stem set.
Read the whole list before you start. Most of the reports that come into the desk about this title turn out to be a step taken out of order.
| Processor | Intel or AMD, 64 bit, multicore with SSE 4.2 |
|---|---|
| Memory | 8 GB minimum, 16 GB for large multitrack sessions |
| Graphics | Any DirectX 12 capable adapter |
| Storage | 8 GB for the install plus a fast drive for session media |
| Display | 1920 by 1080 |
Set the audio device to a low latency driver rather than the shared system output. Everything about the application feels different once you do.
Keep the session media cache on a fast drive. Spectral rendering on a long file is the one thing that will punish a slow disk.
