New York voter registration deadlines to know for the 2024 election
NEW YORK -- New York, New Jersey and Connecticut voters have roughly a month to register to vote in the 2024 presidential election.
As Election Day approaches, here are some key deadlines to keep in mind for the Nov. 5 general election.
New York voter registration deadline
New York's voter registration deadline is Oct. 26 for the 2024 general election. Voters can register online here, by mail or in person.
To register by mail, request a form by entering your name into the state's Voter Registration Form Request mailing list or by calling 1-800-FOR-VOTE (1-800-367-8683).
To register in person, visit your county Board of Elections office, the Department of Motor Vehicles or these other agencies.

Following a recent court ruling, all registered New York voters will have the option to vote-by-mail this election.

- Election Day poll hours: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Note: Early voting and Election Day hours and locations may differ.)

New Jersey's voter registration deadline is Oct. 15, 2024. for the 2024 general election. Check your registration status here.

- Election Day poll hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Connecticut voter registration
Connecticut's deadline to pre-register online or by mail for the general election is Oct. 18. The state also offers same-day registration during Early Voting and on Election Day. Check your registration status here.
- Absentee ballot requests: While the deadline to request a ballot is Nov. 4, voters applying online or by mail should leave enough time to receive their ballot. You can also request one in-person at your town clerk. Find more information here.

- Election Day poll hours: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
